DEREK PARRA ABOUT THE GREAT OLYMPIC OPPORTUNITY

Wow! Watching that brings back sooooo many memories of my past. That was an AMAZING time in my life, but now we must look toward the future: The future of Roller Speed Skating as an Olympic Sport!

We believe that roller speed skating would be an incredible addition to the Olympic summer program. It offers a fresh, young and dynamic sport to the Olympic movement, that is practiced by both men and women equally on five continents.

And as you've just seen, the competitions are nothing less than sports spectacles that posses the visual excitement of track and field events with the high speeds of a bicycle race, as well as the action and adrenaline of auto racing!

And in addition to being a clean and subjective sport, roller speed skating gives those countries - that are not known for winning Olympic medals, the realistic chance to have Olympic success!
Skaters from the countries of Belgium, South Korea, New Zealand, Colombia and Chinese Taipei would have the opportunity to stand on the Olympic Podium:
- witness their country's flag being raised;
- hear their national anthem played for something that they did for their country;
- and feel the pride of their nation;
- while simultaneously, inspiring their country's youth;
- and with that, positively infecting the children of the world, with the Olympic ideals.

We also believe that the inclusion of roller speed skating into the Olympic program would allow our sport to receive the global awareness and increased visibility needed for the further development of our sport.
The Olympic Games represent the highest achievement in sports and the youth of the roller world would continue to come forward to join the Olympic Movement.

It would be an incredible opportunity for our young athletes to chase their Olympic dreams!
